She had 2 first place finishes in individual events against Jamestown, Bismarck and Century dual swim meets. Her main events are the 200 Individual Medley she started the season at a time of  2:23.36 and last meet swam a 2:20.00 and the 100 Breaststroke  beginning time of 1:13.04 and finished the month with a 1:10.88, proving that hard work does pay off . Mayson is currently State Qualified in 7 of the 8 swimming events for this season and is looking for the last one this weekend West Fargo. She is a leader in and out of the Water always pushing herself and her team mates in practice to reach for their best performances.

The MAR Club Male Athlete of the Month for September is Jaxon Duttenhefer. He is a junior and competes in Football. Here is what coach Sheldon had to say about Jaxon: Jaxon put in an impressive month on the grid iron.  In addition to totaling the third highest number of tackles on the team, he pressured the quarterback numerous times, had 10 tackles for loss, 4 sacks and caused a fumble.  Jaxon has also been a huge part of why the team is averaging over 5 yards a carry offensively and we have had time in the pocket to complete passes. Jaxon is a dominant force on the field but continues to put team first not only at practices and games but also in the weight room.  He is an outstanding student that has excelled in the classroom.  Jaxon has always made time for football activities that include the youth program and has been a big influence on the future generations of Braves

August 2019 Athlete of the Month

The MAR Club Female Athlete of the Month for August is Lakyn Darras. She is a senior and competes in volleyball. Here is what coach Anna Folk had to say about Lakyn:  Lakyn has started her senior year of volleyball with a bang.  She is a 3 year starting middle and spent the summer developing her game and is considered one of the top middle hitter/blockers in the state.  Because of her strong work ethic and ability to put our team on her shoulders, she was a unanimous vote for team captain this year.  She was a major component in our 5-2 record at the Bismarck Crossover Tourney to open the season, tallying 63 kills, 16 blocks and 5 aces.

The MAR Club Male Athlete of the Month for August is Austin Frey. He is a senior and is an athlete for football. Here is what coach Todd Sheldon had to say about Austin: Austin was everywhere in our season opener at West Fargo.  He rushed for 96 yards on 25 carries, caught a pass and returned 2 punts for 50 yards.  Wait there is more, he had 5 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles as well as breaking up 4 passes.  Austin has been a go to student-athlete over the last couple of years.  When we are working on volunteer activities with kids in the community, we have been able to consistently count on him to not only be there but to also rally the team to be there in force.  Camps, 7 on 7’s, the weight room.  Austin isn’t only blessed with natural talent, he has put in the time and effort that is required to be not just good but exceptional.

June 2019 Athlete of the Month

The MAR Club Female Athlete of the Month for June is Elizabeth Felderman and Kenna Vogel, Sophomore & Senior, Girls’ Tennis. Coach’s Paul Christen and Megan Schaff nominated Elizabeth and Kenna for these accomplishments.

Elizabeth and Kenna finished an incredible season with a runner-up finish at the state tournament. After breezing through the weekend before defending their West Region championship, they continued their success at the state tournament. In the first two rounds, they advanced each time without dropping a set to reach the semifinals. In the semifinals, they played the #2 team from the East from Grand Forks Central. Kenna and Elizabeth didn’t play their best, but being the champions, they are, found a way to win to set up a showdown with the top seed from the East from West Fargo Sheyenne. The championship match was well-played by both teams with Sheyenne winning the first set and Kenna and Elizabeth winning the second to set up a decisive third set. In the third set, the Sheyenne team won more critical points than Kenna and Elizabeth to come out on top. For their runner-up finish, Kenna and Elizabeth earned all-state honors for the second year in a row.

The MAR Club Male Athlete of the Month for June is Trey Hohbein, Sophomore, Boys’ Golf. Coach Rauser nominated Trey for these accomplishments.

Trey qualified for State tourney for 3rd year, being only a sophomore, this is quite an impressive feat. He has a scoring average of 79 which is #6 in the WDA.
