June 2018 MAR Club Athletes of the Month
Easton Miller (Senior) – Boys' Baseball
The MAR Club Male Athlete of the Month for June is Easton Miller, Senior, Boys’ Baseball. Coach Dewitt Mack nominated Easton for these accomplishments.

“Easton was focused and confident when we told him that he would be pitching for us in possibly our final game of the season. He took that confidence out on the field and pitched his heart out. Easton threw a great game for us on Friday, in the elimination game of the State Baseball Tournament. Against a good hitting Fargo North team, he only gave up three earned runs. In 97 total pitches in that game, Easton threw 64 strikes. He was able to scatter their nine hits throughout the game but due to our lack of offense we were unable to score a run and we lost 4-0. Throughout the year, Easton pitched in seven games for a total of 31 1/3 innings. He had a total of 22 strikeouts and only nine walks during the season. The opponent’s batting average was a meager 0.285 when he was on the hill. Easton had a great year in baseball. He approached every game as though it could be his last and he competed the entire game, no matter the score or inning. Easton’s leadership and goofy sense of humor will be missed next year by his teammates and the coaching staff.”
Kenna Vogel (Junior) and Elizabeth Felderman (Freshman) - Girls' Tennis
The MAR Club Female Athletes of the Month for June were Kenna Vogel, Junior, and Elizabeth Felderman, Freshman, Girls’ Tennis. Coaches Megan Hanson and Paul Christen nominated Kenna and Elizabeth for these accomplishments.

“We would like to nominate the Doubles team of Kenna Vogel and Elizabeth Felderman for the MAR Club June Athlete of the Month. After only playing half the season together (playing the other half with other Doubles partners), the Doubles team of Vogel/Felderman had a solid finish to the season in the month of June. Their only competition was the State individual tournament. After winning the West Region Doubles crown the week before, Elizabeth and Kenna had their sights set high for the State tournament. In the first round, they dismantled their Fargo North opponents 6-1, 6-1 to cruise into the quarterfinals. Their next match was against a hard-hitting Fargo Shanley team. The steady play by Vogel/Felderman weathered the barrage of big shots to win 6-3, 7-5 and earn a place in the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, they ran into the state runner-up team from the previous year and the state senior athlete of the year from Valley City. After a slow start in the first set, Kenna and Elizabeth turned it around but came up just short 6-3, 6-4. The 3rd-place match was a rematch of the West Region championship match the week before. After winning the first set, the girls dropped the next two to finish the season with a 4th-place finish. By placing in the top 5 at state, both girls earned All-State honors and are the highest placing Braves girls’ tennis placers since 2006.”
Other Athletes Nominated
