MAB Male Athlete of the Month | May 2026
Jack Tooke | Baseball
"Jack was instrumental in our success in the month of May, contributing in all three aspects of the game; fielding, hitting and pitching.
Jack’s defensive play in May was exemplary. As our everyday 3rd basemen, he had 21 defensive plays and only had a single error for 95% fielding percentage.
At the plate, Jack carried our offense. Batting in the 3rd position in our order, Jack hit a scorching 0.432 batting average with 3 doubles, 1 triple and 3 home runs(one of which was the game winner in an 11-inning game in the West Region Tournament).
However, Jack’s pitching was unmatched in May. He threw in three games(16 innings) allowing only 3 hits and a single run. During those three games he had 23 strikeouts(1.4 per inning), a 0.635 WHIP(walk + hit per inning pitched), he gave up 0 earned runs for a 0.00 ERA and the opponents had a measly 0.051 batting average.
You hardly ever see a baseball player contribute to all three parts of the game during the same time. Rarely will a player contribute at the levels that Jack did during May in a single aspect of the game and almost never all three aspects. His impact helped us take second place in the West Region tournament after finishing 8th during the regular season. Without Jack’s efforts our season would have ended a lot sooner than it did."
