On January 25, 2012 the USDA approved the final rule to update the meal pattens and nutrition requirements for the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program to align them with the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

This change will increase the availability of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and fat-free and low-fat fluid milk in school meals; reduce the levels of sodium and saturated fat in meals; and help meet the nutrition needs of school children within their calorie requirements. Implementation will result in more nutritious school meals that improve the dietary habits of school children and protect their health.

The Mandan Public Schools Child Nutrition Department has been anticipating the changes and has met the new meal patterns and nutrition requirements. As part of these efforts, nutritional information will be available online for all of our menu items. All Lunch Menus are available at this time and will correlate directly with the monthly menu. The nutritional information for the Breakfast Menu will be online soon.
