Fort Lincoln Elementary

Welcome to the Fort Lincoln Elementary Home Page

We appreciate your taking the time to visit our school through this venue. Please feel welcome to call to set up an “on sight” visit if it fits your needs and schedule. Fort Lincoln’s address is 2007 8th Ave. SE. We are located on the outer edge of the southern boundary of our community. We are part of an area of Mandan that has supported new and continued growth over the past 18 years. Mandan Public Schools and Fort Lincoln Elementary continues to be a wonderful place for students to complete their elementary learning opportunities. Our goal is to provide a warm nurturing environment that stresses collaborative data driven instruction in Reading. We are currently moving forward with plans to supplement our math instruction in a like manner. We have an extremely energetic staff that has a wonderful blend of experience & youth. This combination creates a great chemistry for openness to growth based on the study of data and research based instruction.

Fort Lincoln Elementary is a “K–5” elementary school serving approximately 400 students. The Fort Lincoln service area includes a cross section of the Mandan community. Fort Lincoln is currently the “newest” elementary in Mandan. It has been serving students for 18 years. Our school mascot is the “Thunderbird”. Fort Lincoln is in its third year of participation in the Reading First Grant program. We have also become a “School-wide” Title I school. This designation allows us to have a high level of flexibility as we look to best utilize our federal funding. Fort Lincoln has moved towards the use of the “Response to Intervention” approach to instruction in the area of Reading. This includes a collaborative data driven tiered approach that has students receive full group teacher driven instruction; Small group – leveled instruction provided by the teacher, a reading specialist, or special educator; and additional support provided by reading specialist for students who might continue to struggle. This approach serves as a precursor to any new special education referrals. Our goals for the future include incorporating a portion of this approach into the area of Mathematics.
